Visitors at the Museum of Evolution in Maribo, Denmark, have been treated to the sight of a previously unknown dinosaur species for over a year. The dinosaur, whose name had not been determined, has now been named Lokiceratops rangiformis, five years after its discovery. The specimen was found in northern Montana and is believed to have lived 78 million years ago. Lokiceratops shares similarities with Triceratops but belongs to a separate lineage. Its head features large, uniquely shaped horns and a frill. The fossil was discovered by a commercial paleontologist on private land and was purchased by a museum instead of disappearing into private hands.
