Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour had a positive impact on the local economies where her concerts were held, but a new report questions its overall effect on the national level. A Japanese investment bank suggests that the tour’s contribution to US retail sales was 0.03% and to real gross domestic product was 0.02% between the first and third quarters of 2023. While the tour boosted consumption in the 20 cities Swift visited, its impact on larger economies like the US, UK, or Japan is less likely to be significant. However, small economies like Singapore and Sweden could see a macroeconomic boost.
